One theme that came up often in the Star Trek franchise was that problems will arise when one culture interferes with affairs of another. Some would say Gene Roddenberry was a visionary. Well actually all one has to do is look at U.S. history to understand how true it is that problems will arise.
The problems in Cuba, Iraq, and Afghanistan are partly the creation of the U.S. Our founding fathers warned us not to get involved with the affairs of other nations. Some people would argue that involvement in these nation and others in the last century was necessary to secure our freedoms but that makes about as much sense spanking your child in the morning because you believe he will disobey in the afternoon. (Sometime being reactive is better than being proactive.)
Today we are stuck in conflicts because of bad decision in the past. By past I don't mean the decisions made in the last ten years. They are just the out workings of the decisions made sixty years ago. The biggest one is that after World War II the U.S. appointed itself international hall monitor and I don't think we have done a very good job of it.
The situation now is that the U.S. is so heavily involved that we can just stop. We really need to come up with an action plan that makes us less involved in what other nations are doing. But we won't do it.

Movie Request
I would like to see the movie "The Road to El Dorado" remade without the songs. I think that Johnny Deep and Orlando Bloom should play the two con men. With the right script it could be a block buster.

Twitterer I Am Not
I original signed up for a Twitter account so that I could announce when I updated my blog. I have only one follower and only followed one person. I don't even announce blog updates anymore on Twitter. I know some people tweet all the time about what they are doing. Twitter just does not fit my lifestyle. I guess I am more of a Facebooker.

Google Got Buzz
Google has introduced a new sevice that is called Buzz. Best I can tell it well help them compete with Facebook. This should be interesting. A Google account and a Facebook account will allow you to do pretty much the same thing now. The differences is in how they organize the options. At this point I don't think Google with its new Buzz feature is really going to over take Facebook.
As for me I have been a Gmail user for a long time. Mainly because I like to be able to log into different computers and see my account. As for Facebook it allows me to keep up with friends by reading their updates. I don't see my friends and family switching from Facebook to Buzz for status updates. Since Buzz integrates with Gmail it may become quite popular and I will probably use it.
